A Local Place to GatherA Building With History
The building has been part of Water Valley’s story since 1915, when Albert and Bertha Sailer, who had moved from Cremona, built the town’s second store with living quarters above. Bertha and some of the children ran the store while Albert operated a sawmill west of town.
The store was later sold to Fred and Josephine McKinnon in 1941, and then to Bill Taylor, who converted it into Maggie’s Country Kitchen in the early 1980s.
The Saloon Years
In 1987, Tom and Laurie Magnuson purchased the restaurant and opened the saloon in 1988, making it famous for Wing Wednesday and the Water Valley Burger. As its popularity grew, the building was expanded in 1990 to welcome even more guests.
Most recently, Julie and Bruce proudly owned and operated the saloon for the past ten years, continuing its legacy as a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
The Next Chapter
Now under new ownership, the restaurant and saloon have been brought together into one welcoming, family-friendly space.
As we carry this historic building into its next chapter, we’re also excited to welcome more live music, celebrations, and special events, creating a place where the community can gather, celebrate, and make new memories.
